As a hobby beekeeper in New Zealand, it's essential to comply with the legal requirement to have your hives inspected for American Foulbrood (AFB) each year. If you don't have a Disease Elimination Conformity Agreement (DECA) from the AFB Pest Management agency, then you need a Certificate of Inspection from an accredited expert.

How It Works:
 

1. Book an Inspection: Schedule your inspection between August 1 and November 30.

2. ​Hive Inspection: Sarah will inspect your hive(s) for signs of AFB.

3. Receive Your Certificate: After a successful inspection, Sarah, as the authorised beekeeper, will complete the Inspecting Beekeeper Statement on the front page and also complete and sign the inspection details for each apiary. You need to complete and sign the Beekeeper’s Statement. You then submit the completed Certificate of Inspection Form to the Management Agency within 15 days of the inspection date or before 15 December, whichever is earlier.
